As we all know, Chris Carpenter’s back is bothering him a bit. He’s got what now is being called an inflamed bursa sac. In addition to the whole of Cardinal Nation, we also have this guy pulling for him:

[...] Dogma is poison, no matter what dogma one follows. Readers of this blog are probably familiar with the high level of annoyance expressed over La Russa’s slavish devotion to the ground ball. Chris Carpenter is resting his back, something is bothering his sac, no really his bursa sac is inflamed, and he’s likely to sit another game, if not go on the DL. (I’ll never forget the last time my bursa sac was inflamed…I had to get a special ointment for it, oh, hey!) This is the chance to get Reyes in the rotation, put him through a few starts and see how he does. He’s clearly ready for the majors, but his fly ball pitching ways make him less than desirable option for La Russa. The things I want to say are running through my head so fast because of sheer frustration that I can’t muster a coherent sentence. There’s really nothing more I can say on the subject anyhow, until Reyes gets his shot. If the organization has soured on him, and sweetening is not a possibility, then they should trade him for a bat. We need another solid power threat for the middle of the order with Jimmy now a singles hitters. [...]
